Your destination is a city

I'm a country | I'm a region
I'm an attraction | I'm a hotel | I'm an event

The market for short breaks is incredibly dynamic. The City Break is a major driving force. It’s also the top prize winner.

ut is it yours? Or will it continue to be yours? Cities excite, enchant and seduce. People fall in love with them. No wonder that the market for short city breaks continues to grow and grow. But so does the competition.

No one can afford to sit back and wait for tourists to come. You need to go out and get them. Especially…

  • if yours is not a known capital city
  • or you're overshadowed by a better known city
  • once the novelty of the new city on the block has waned
  • and the ‘been there, done that’ syndrome kicks in.

It is our belief that every city can excite people – and renew that excitement.

It is one of the most magical holiday experiences, to visit a strange city for the first time – and to be excited by it, enchanted by it, seduced by it, fall in love with it.

The hard-nosed question is, then:  What is it about your city that will excite people more than all those other cities?

Firstly, it’s creating a relevant image that gets your city noticed. Something that gives your city a personality that is as unique and relevant as it is memorable. Something that ensures your city stands out from the competition.

In a word: something that brands your city. (And don’t forget that a well branded city, with a personality of its own, provides your region and your country with another compelling reason to visit again!).

Secondly, it’s an insight into what the city offers, from an outsider’s point of view. It’s a question of arming your tourist with all the right information - not just about the usual tourist sights, but the inside track on where to eat, where to shop, where the hot clubs are and where to find a vegetarian restaurant. Even where the best places are for business tourism (seminars, meetings and conventions).

On the surface, this is all functional information. The trick we’ve learned at The Hat Factory is to find methods of communicating all the relevant information to each potential visitor in a way that’s perhaps reminiscent of getting in-depth local knowledge from a concierge.

In a word: Bring on the internet! Bring on viral marketing!
